Yam O & Luk Keng Ysuen at Lantau Island

"Yam O is the sole location in Hong Kong that housed a floating lumber mill, which ceased operations nearly 20 years ago. The 'log raft' used to be towed from southern Asia to Hong Kong for building boats, especially during a time when numerous fishing boat builders were active. The lumber was temporarily 'stored' in Yam O, making it a significant hub in the past.

Luk Keng Tsuen, a small village, was once home to the lumber workers. Nowadays, visitors can reach there by taking the MTR or 'Kai-to' (a small ferry operated by a private company). However, the future of this historical site is uncertain, as the government has plans to redevelop Yam O in the near future."
